Kleinfeld Love Stories

Katherine and Gabe

About the Proposal

Engaged:

October 7, 2017

Gabe and I were engaged over Columbus Day weekend in Bermuda. We planned the getaway at the last minute, and the weekend could not have be better.

As soon as we arrived, we went directly to the beach and spent the day relaxing in the sun. As we went to lunch, Gabe quickly turned around. “My passport is in my backpack…I need to go back and get it,” he claimed. Little did I know, he had buried the engagement ring deep inside the bag. As the day progressed, we settled into our room at the hotel, watching the sunset in our bathing suits and bathrobes. Before I knew it, Gabe was down on one knee. Through tears, screams and laughter, I said “YES!” to the easiest question I have ever been asked!

About the Dress

Kleinfeld Consultant:

Candace
I wore an off-the-shoulder sheath gown by Le Spose di Gio with a matching overskirt for my wedding day.
After 10 appointments at other salons throughout New York City, I had narrowed down what I was looking for. I described my dream dress: architectural, minimalistic, sleek, modern, and maybe off-the-shoulder. My consultant, Candace, smiled and replied she knew exactly what I wanted. “I have this great Italian designer for you…not many people know it.” As she brought me to the rack, I knew it was my dress. I asked the name of the designer, which caused my jaw to drop. About four years later, I would be wearing Le Spose de Gio, the same designer as my sister’s wedding dress. The dress could not have been even more perfect.

About the Wedding

Married:

March 18, 2018  //

Location:

New York, NY  //

Venue:

Rainbow Room

Gabe and I were married at the Rainbow Room in New York City on March 18, 2018 surrounded by friends and family. As New York City natives, we wanted to choose a venue that would be both meaningful, but also convenient for our families. After our engagement, we quickly settled on the Rainbow Room, as it was the location of our second date and our first kiss. My aunt had also been married there in 1993, where I was a flower girl (in a Kleinfeld dress!), so the place felt like it was meant to be.

We spent the day getting ready with our families at the St. Regis hotel. Our bridal party was just our siblings, so the day was calm and quiet. But when Gabe and I first saw each other in the Ballroom of the hotel for our First Look, we knew that the day would be perfect. Our wedding ceremony began with a small ketubah signing while our guests filed into Bar 65, where our formal ceremony would take place. As the sun set over the ceremony, our rabbi, who I’ve known since I was a baby, brought laughter and tears to our guests. Sealed with the breaking of the glass and a kiss, we moved to the cocktail hour overlooking the NYC skyline. After dinner, our guests danced the night away, with the dance floor literally spinning below us.
