What We Saw at NYBFW and the 2023 Met Gala

The annual Met Gala is known for its fashion-forward and trend-setting red carpet looks – as are the highly anticipated, seasonal bridal collection previews during New York Bridal Fashion Week. These star-studded events, that left most starry-eyed, gave a glimpse into the bridal trends for 2023:

Bows

Between New York Bridal Fashion Week and the 2023 Met Gala, there was one accessory that dominated the runways & red carpet…and was every bit a nod to Karl Lagerfeld: bows. Hair bows are a classic and sophisticated accessory that serves major school girl vibes.

Exaggerated waists

A-line silhouettes have been big in the bridal industry for decades, but this fuller-skirted, Cinderella-inspired shape ball gown took back its spot during New York Bridal Fashion Week and the 2023 Met Gala.

Floral details

The 2023 Met Gala showcased a number of looks with a prominent nod to the floral detail. It’s a trait that the more fashion-forward and über romantic brides won’t be able to resist.

Epic embellishments

Over-the-top embellishments have been few and far between in the bridal agenda throughout recent seasons, with brides more focused on timeless classics. But with individuality & personality now a top priority for modern brides, this trend of epic embellishments is the way to stand out from the crowd.

Dimensional lace

Romantic, lace gowns offering dimensional looks – sometimes with removable layers and detachable pieces – were a focus of New York Bridal Fashion Week and the Met Gala. Billie Eilish arrived at the Met, dressed to honor Karl Lagerfeld’s legacy in a sheer lace dress by Simone Rocha.
