About the Proposal

Engaged:

December 29, 2015

Nathan pulled off a surprise proposal that involved my parents and a photographer. We spent Christmas in my hometown, near Dallas/Fort Worth, TX. We decided not to exchange gifts for Christmas 2015 however Nathan said he wanted to take me out on a day date after Christmas. On 12/29/15, the “day date” began when Nathan took me to the Fort Worth Water Gardens and got down on one knee to asked if I would marry him. Little did I know, my parents were there and Nathan hired a photographer to capture the moment. It was so perfect and just like him to surprise me!

About the Dress

Kleinfeld Consultant:

Candice Chaves

Dress: designer Lusan Mandongus

Bride’s Jewelry (necklace, earrings, silver bracelet): Thomas Knoell Designs

I wanted a dress that would sparkle, wow and “move” with me. I am 5’0″ and know a certain dress styles overpower me. During my appointment, I tried on a few different styles and they were nice, however when Candice (Kleinfeld consultant) pulled out the white, strapless Lusan Mandongus dress, I was immediately attracted to the white crystal beading all over, making it sparkle at every angle. As soon as I put it on, I could not stop gushing about how much I liked the fit, beading and sweetheart neckline.  It’s true what they say, keep an open mind when wedding dress shopping. This dress had a train! I never thought I wanted a train being 5’0′ but I could not deny how it “made” the dress! My parents came with me to the appointment and when I showed them this dress, they knew it was “the one”! Everyone in the Kleinfeld fitting room started calling it the “firecracker” dress.

I got married in a Catholic church so covering my shoulders was very important to me. During my dress fitting, Inez Barraza (Kleinfeld fitter) suggested taking the extra dress fabric and making detachable sleeves. It was the perfect solution and I loved that I could remove the sleeves for a different look. I was even grateful during the reception so I could dance!

My Kleinfeld experience did not stop at the dress, I purchased a veil and custom accessories from Thomas Knoell Designs. I happen to purchase during Thomas’ trunkshow weekend and met Thomas himself. He saw that I loved an opal headpiece and mentioned how he could customize a necklace, bracelet and earrings with opal stones.

About the Wedding

Married:

June 17, 2017  //

Location:

Colleyville, TX  //

Venue:

Piazza in the Village

Nathan and I got married on June 17,2017  in Colleyville, Texas. We live out of state so we knew we would be planning a wedding remotely. Colleyville is close to my hometown and near Dallas/Fort Worth so my parents were able to help with planning details. We knew it was going to be a big Texas wedding weekend with friends and family coming from all over the US!

My bridesmaids wore teal colored dresses, in  style of their choosing. They held bright pink bouquets of flowers.

Our wedding bands incorporate both white and rose gold metals  We loved the mix of metals so much that we decided to use silver and rose gold as accent colors for our reception and our “Thank you” card photo.

Our wedding reception was elegant, fun and had the best food and dancing. All important factors for Nahan and I. Since a majority of our friends and family were coming in from out of town, we wanted to show them a great Texas time that would bring them all together! Over the course of the weekend, we ate Texas style BBQ and had late night snacks of milk and cookies and coffee and donuts at our reception.

Summertime in Texas in so hot and can be unpredictable. We were lucky that it was only in the 90s and clear skies! We kept the reception indoors and took some photos outside. Our wedding party were thankful they didnt have to stay outside for too long!

It was a dream to marry Nathan in front of our friends and family. Our wedding weekend was a blast!

Cake : Ruth Robbins Cake Designs (Southlake, TX)
Flowers: Lilium Floral (Colleyville, TX)
