Kleinfeld Love Stories: Maddie and Andrew

Andrew is truly the most compassionate and romantic man I have ever met. No gesture is simple, and no gift or adventure is small. So of course, his proposal was no different. On the day before Thanksgiving, my parents had planned for the family to go to a Tree Lighting at one of our absolute favorite vacation spots, The Ritz-Carlton at Lake Oconee, Georgia. My parents live in Augusta, so it’s a quick one hour drive to the lake. I certainly remember spending most of the drive complaining how Andrew was stuck in Atlanta working the day before Thanksgiving, and thinking Atlanta traffic may postpone his arrival indefinitely. It wasn’t long before we arrived to the lake. It was the perfect day, the trees were rich in color, and there was just barely a chill in the air. As soon as we arrived, we headed down to the water. Looking out at the lake I thought, I wish Andrew was here. And turning around from a picture with my sister, there he was!! It truly still had not hit me what was about to happen. I was just happy he had surprised me and made the trip over!

As soon as I went over to him, he grabbed my hand and said let’s go for a walk. It was then that I saw the tears in his eyes, a beautiful floating dock extending into the water and a pontoon boat covered in lights and flowers.

My amazing dad had the idea to bring the whole family to New York for wedding dress shopping. And of course, we HAD to go to Kleinfeld. The dress was simply PERFECT. And SO different than I expected. After trying 9 dresses during my appointment, I knew I was getting closer to what I wanted but nothing felt “perfect” yet. Just as I was starting to feel a little discouraged, my amazing consultant said wait….I think I have one more. The second I saw it I had a feeling. It was timeless, elegant and I felt like a BRIDE! The cathedral train adorned with buttons was beyond my wildest dreams and the straps and fitted waist with just a hint of embellishment made me know it was the one. My entire family knew it was the one immediately. Best of all…IT HAD POCKETS! Which everyone at the wedding absolutely loved.

The wedding was a southern classic, fairytale. In the start of spring in Augusta, Georgia over 200 from guests from near and far joined us for our incredible day. The weather was simply perfect, sunny and 75 all day long and truly a day you only dream about. We had our ceremony in my parent’s church, and our reception at Augusta Country Club. Guests enjoyed a cocktail hour with a jazz quartet and Millie’s frose bar, named after our sweet cockapoo, Millie! All overlooking the stunning first tee at sunset. After cocktail hour, guests moved inside for a seated full course dinner. And that was just the start! Our band had us all dancing the night away and it was truly the most incredible night of our lives in a place that we hold so dear to our hearts. From our hand made flower wall to glow sticks and late night passed grilled cheeses…it was the perfect celebration of our love and story!
