Kleinfeld Love Stories: Edna and Greg

Kleinfeld Love Stories: Edna and Greg - 5/31/25

About the Proposal

Engaged:

May 30, 2024

Greg and I are so happy to have found each other. We feel like we are examples that true love is real even if you have to wait until your 60s to discover it! Who knew? First of all, we have to thank Bumble because that’s how we met. Greg and I met in May 2022. Greg was on Bumble for about a year and nearing the end of his subscription. He had about a week left and was about to close his account. He figured he would take one final look and be done with it. Meanwhile, at the advice of a friend, I had just joined Bumble. Greg was in my third queue of prospects on my second day! There was something about his kind face and great smile that won me over. As it turned out, he lived where I live: Solomons Island in Southern Maryland. It’s where the Patuxent River meets the Chesapeake Bay, so there is water all over. It’s rural and very picturesque with only 2,500 full-time residents! So, I thought there was no way that I would meet someone there. We only lived about a mile apart from each other!

For our first date, we met at the gazebo at the Solomons boardwalk that runs along the Patuxent River and walked around the island. Upon finishing our second date, we both knew we were made for each other. After that date, Greg texted me, “I’m digging you, chick.” As they say, the rest is history! You won’t believe it, but on two occasions total strangers came up to us and told us how much they were inspired by our love as they watched us at a restaurant.

After being divorced, I never thought that I ever wanted to get married again as I grew up seeing struggle and scarcity in my parents’ and others’ relationships. My own relationships were also difficult and heartbreaking. I am a hopeless romantic and I have always believed in love – just not for me. I didn’t realize what I was missing and I didn’t realize how wonderful it can be to find your person. We have found that in each other! To have fun just watching “Jeopardy” and giving each other high fives when we actually get the answer right! We say we met each other exactly when we were the best versions of ourselves.

The first (unofficial attempt) Greg tried to propose, he said “I feel like we’re already married,” and I replied, “”Uh oh, you have to ask me!” Then he started to ask me while we were sitting on the couch eating popcorn and I looked like a mess! I said, “No, no, no,” so I knew it would happen sometime soon. My sons had also approved, so we had to make it official!

On the second anniversary of our first date, we went to a casual dinner with friends. On the way back home, one of our friends suggested going to the Solomons Island boardwalk for ice cream which was the same boardwalk where we had our first date two years prior. As we walked along the boardwalk, I pointed to the gazebo in the distance and told them that was where we met for our first date. I was telling the story and as we reached the gazebo, I said, “Yep, this is where it all began!” I turned around and Greg was on one knee! I was completely surprised! True to Greg’s style, he proposed with a candy ring pop as a placeholder. It made me laugh and cry at the same time. He knew we would get the ring later from my son who works at a jewelry store. Our friends brought champagne and we toasted to our engagement. Then, we went for ice cream! It was so special to have my son, Stephen, sell us my engagement ring too. It arrived in time for Christmas Day!

About the Dress

Kleinfeld Consultant:

Briar M

First of all, I am a huge fan of Say Yes to the Dress! I have seen all 22 seasons and several of the spinoffs. I can’t tell you what it means to me to be a Kleinfeld bride – something I never thought was possible! I had never tried on a wedding dress as I wore a suit when I got married the first time many years ago. When I think about the special experience that Kleinfeld bestows upon brides, I get choked up, and I rarely get through a SYTTD episode without tears. Kleinfeld always helps brides look and feel their absolute best and most beautiful, and they do it with panache, compassion, flair, and fun.

I booked a Diamond VIP appointment which was held on January 28, 2025. Fourteen of us converged on Kleinfeld filled with joy and anticipation. It was also bittersweet because my mother passed away the day before my appointment. She unexpectedly received a diagnosis of metastatic lung cancer in early December 2024 and declined quickly after radiation began. She knew about the appointment, and I knew she would want me to keep it to honor her. I could not have gotten through the day without my treasured family and friends.

My bridal stylist, Briar Moroschak, was an angel sent from heaven itself! She listened intently to my ideas and presented a variety of dresses she knew would make me feel stunning and flatter my 64-year-old body in the best way possible! While everyone loved all the dresses, I got an unanimous “YES YES YES” to the show-stopper Essense of Australia wedding gown that Briar selected. I didn’t expect it to look good on me, but I was blown away by the fit, the flair, and the elegance.

You should have seen my face when I learned that Josephine the Seamstress Goddess was doing my alterations! She is phenomenal! I took family and friends with me to each fitting – so fun! Josephine made me feel special. She is so kind and is an absolute delight. I also got to see Briar once or twice, which was awesome. Josephine made detachable tulle sleeves for the dress which gave me two breathtaking looks for the day. As I knew it would, my dress fit perfectly! It literally sparkled and our guests were enchanted. I still get so many compliments! The elegance, the magic, the amazing fit, and definitely the comfort – sheer perfection! Kleinfeld made my “Radiant Bride Goals” a reality.

About the Wedding

Married:

May 31, 2025  //

Location:

Solomons, Maryland  //

Venue:

No Thyme to Cook

Greg and I exchanged vows on May 31, 2025 in Solomons, Maryland where we live. We don’t get many visitors to Southern Maryland, so we wanted to not only showcase our love, but also highlight the beauty of Southern Maryland. We also focused on the delicious food, especially seafood, and rich American history. We planned a whole weekend of fun starting with Tiki Bar Solomons during our Friday night get-together, then a magical wedding and reception on the water on Saturday, and ended with a chartered boat cruise around Solomons Harbor on Sunday. We got married at a local venue on the water called No Thyme to Cook. They were spectacular in every way! They made everything so easy for Greg and me.

Our guests raved about the venue, the food, the fun, and the full experience. The day was truly perfect! Our guests tell us that they could feel the love and the joy. They were moved by our vows as well as our declaration of love that showed in our beaming faces. We were told that the sun was shining right on us during the ceremony and that my dress glittered in the sunlight. There was a 40% chance of rain that day, but our angels (our moms both named Barbara!) called in a favor to bring perfect weather. The event was filled with family and long-time friends who have been a part of our lives and journey together. My sons, Jason, Stephen, and Gerald, walked me down the aisle one at a time through hand-offs. We did not have bridesmaids or groomsmen yet we acknowledged and incorporated our big, beautiful, blended family in many aspects of the day.

As for our circle of friends that contributed to the magic, I went to college with our photographer and she connected me with an exceptional DJ who got everyone on the dance floor. We had an incredible videographer who captured our love story in our wedding video and a wonderful photo booth host who provided lots of fun all night. Our florist is the daughter of two of my high school friends. Her creative designs set the tone for a gorgeous day that was filled with emotion. A dear friend was our officiant whose words inspired and touched us all. Also, since many of my close friends and family went to the Kleinfeld Diamond VIP appointment, they already knew each other at the wedding! Our guests used words like “joy-filled,” “simple yet elegant,” “intentional,” “magical,” “intimate,” “the best wedding they’ve ever been to,” and “so much fun.” That’s exactly what we wanted! No Thyme to Cook even has a beautiful loft on the top floor that overlooks the water. We stayed there for the weekend. The combination of our joy and the beauty of Solomons created the perfect day for all of us.

On a solemn note, I always assumed my mother would be at my wedding, but that was not meant to be. Leading up to the wedding, I was filled with emotion and cried at the very thought of her not being there. Greg’s mother passed away in 2023, so I did not have a chance to meet her, but we were so happy that we felt so much love on our wedding day. We know these precious angels were watching over us.

Thank you, Kleinfeld, from the bottom of my heart for your important role in curating a memorable bridal experience and a spectacular wedding! You are like family and I will cherish these moments forever – and I will recommend you forever!
