Kleinfeld Love Stories

Julianna & Ross - 1/14/23

About the Proposal

Engaged:

July 17, 2021

Ross nailed the engagement. Early into our dating, I told Ross that Grand Central is one of the most romantic places in NYC: so many people pass each other every day and through the crowds once you see the person you love everything else is a blur. That’s what happened on July 17, 2021. We were visiting NYC for fun and Ross told me that he had a special new restaurant to bring me to that involved traveling on the Metro North (?! We usually go downtown). It was raining outside, I was very confused, and the second we got into the main hall I saw the violinist. He started playing ‘Girls Like You’. Ross’s friends were hiding in the crowd & took video & photos. Ross’s family was also in the crowd, and he even organized for my parents to fly in from Indiana and some friends to be in the crowd! It was such a beautiful blur – and I obviously said YES!

About the Dress

Kleinfeld Consultant:

Morgan M.

My mom, man of honor, and I met in NYC for one weekend with one goal: find my dress. My mom flew in from Indiana, I came from Virginia, & my man of honor was already in NYC. I’d gone to a few places already but mostly google searched. While searching online I found the ROSS dress by Rita Vinieris and I remember wondering if it’s a sign to pick that dress (my husband’s name is Ross)! We saved Kleinfeld for last on Sunday morning, my mom’s flight left Sunday night, so we were under pressure. Once I tried it on, I knew it was the one. The bottom reminds me of the ocean in Puerto Rico. I love the pleating on the bottom and the architectural shape on the top.  It’s fun, unique, GLAMOROUS, elegant, intricate….it’s everything that makes me think of my Ross, my relationship with my Ross, & how I wanted to feel when I got to marry him. I love the contrast of the old-world charm from Old San Juan with the new, modern look from the Ross dress too.

About the Wedding

Married:

January 14, 2023  //

Location:

Old San Juan, Puerto Rico  //

Venue:

Cathedral: San Juan Bautista Cathedral; Reception: Hotel El Convento

Our wedding was everything I dreamed of and more. More than anything, I wanted a wedding full of fun, family, and love. We chose Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. Most of my family is in Puerto Rico & most of Ross’s family could easily fly in from New York. Old San Juan was perfect for everything that we love – the beach, nice weather, good food, beautiful art & architecture, a mix of cultures, and cats. Our ceremony was in the San Juan Bautista cathedral – the second oldest Cathedral in the Americas. After the ceremony we surprised everyone with a live plena band and we danced around the plaza (the first plaza in old san juan) in front of the cathedral. Then Ross & I (in my Ross dress) walked to El Morro for our pictures. The reception was in Hotel El Convento – a former convent from the 1500s. For food we had a range of Puerto Rican dishes, we had some typical street food for late night snacks, and even did a tequila toast for the best man speech (not puerto rican, but Ross loves tequila).

It felt incredible to get married somewhere where we felt so embedded in history & to be surrounded by everything & everyone that we love.
