Kleinfeld Love Stories

Erin & Justin - 8/1/20

About the Proposal

Engaged:

February 13, 2018

“We have to go to Peak 6,”‘ adamantly says the boy who just separated his shoulder (on a ski slope).

“He is insane!!! Why does he want to risk getting hurt?!” Erin kept thinking. Soon enough. . . she found out.

They woke up on February 13, 2019 at their quaint ski-on-ski-off condo in Breckenridge and skied the 3.8 miles over to Peak 6. Of course, the final lift taking them up to 12,302 feet was closed due to wind hold! Justin immediately panicked, but played off his stress well. It was a beautiful blue bird day, so they didn’t let it stop them from having the best day of skiing.

8 runs and 12 miles of skiing later, they decided to head back to their condo. “Actually. . . let’s go on one more run,” Justin suggested. He discovered that there were professional photographers at Peak 8 and wanted to take a few pictures to capture the amazing day. After taking a few snapshots, Justin asked the photographer, “Wait, can we do one more picture?” The next thing Erin knew, Justin had his skis off and was already down on one knee. Erin’s response? Well, the infamous reaction picture speaks for itself. YES!

About the Dress

Kleinfeld Consultant:

Melissa

At one point I had thought that I wanted a simple A line dress with NO lace and NO flowers!  Boy was I wrong!

My mom and I have been huge fans of “Say Yes to the Dress” so for Mother’s Day in 2018, I made an appointment to try on dresses at Kleinfeld Bridal in NYC!  Before heading down to the boutique, I had gone through and “favorited” some dresses online.  One dress in particular, Epico by Pronovias, was strangely catching my eye (odd since it had lace AND floral design!) When we arrived to Kleinfeld on Mother’s Day, Melissa took me around the floor and we picked six different dresses.  We decided to save the Pronovias dress for last!  With each dress that I tried on, I kept thinking that something was missing, and I kept comparing it to Epico!  When we got to the sixth and final dress, Pronovias Epico, I knew it was the one the moment I tried it on!  The sweetheart neckline was so flattering.  The lace applique was PERFECT and showed off my curves perfectly.  Lastly, the train and button designs down the back were to die for.  My mother immediately agreed, and I said YES! to the dress.  Tears and all, I had my perfect Say YES! to the Dress Experience!

About the Wedding

Married:

August 1, 2020  //

Location:

Jamaica, VT  //

Venue:

Cole Pond

Love is never canceled!

Like MANY other couples, in March 2020, we were faced with the difficult decision: What to do with our wedding that was scheduled for 8/1/20 at a beachfront venue in Fairfield CT.  It was a stressful and difficult choice, but due to all of the unknowns, we sent out our “Change the Dates” and postponed our big wedding celebrations in Fairfield, CT until August 1, 2021.  Even though we decided to put off the big wedding celebrations, Justin and I decided that we still wanted to get married and honor our original wedding day, we just were not sure how!!!  As each week passed, puzzle pieces started to fall into place!

Our happy place is in the mountains (obviously since Justin proposed on the slopes!).  We spend our winter months in Vermont, so we decided that if we could not have our beachfront wedding, we would try to get married near the mountains at a family friends’ cabin in Jamaica, Vermont!  Once we confirmed the location of the marriage, we then found our photographer, officiant, caterer and florist!  It was amazing to actually create a new wedding last minute and support all of the local vendors!  Slowly but surely everything was working itself out!

August 1st, 2020 ended up being the most magical day.  We were married in Jamaica, Vermont on beautiful Cole Pond in front of our immediate family members and our two fur babies Kodiak and Yukon (see pictures!).  Even though it was not the large ceremony and reception that we had originally planned, it ended up being so much more special and intimate this way!  The wedding was complete with a beer ceremony (we are huge fans of Vermont IPA’s) and we had a grand exit on the floating dock (see pictures attached!)!

Despite every obstacle in our way, we proved that love is NEVER canceled.  We were some of the lucky ones who were able to celebrate love, laughter and happily ever after.  Everything happens for a reason, and we are firm believers in that!  We look forward to celebrating with more friends and loved ones 8/1/21 at our reception (where I plan to wear my dream dress AGAIN!!!!!!).
