About the Proposal

Engaged:

April 21, 2015
We were driving up to our Lake property in Connecticut when Steve asked me what my favorite spot on the lake was. Later that, as the sun was setting over the lake, Steve proposed to me on that very spot. It was beautiful. One problem….Steve was so nervous that when he got the ring from the car,he accidentally locked the keys in the car. We had to wait 3 hours for Triple A to rescue us. But while we waited, we built a fire to stay warm. It was a beautiful clear night with no clouds and the stars were shining brightly. It was crazy and romantic all at the same time.

About the Dress

Kleinfeld Consultant:

Debbie
My dress was made by Augusta Jones. It was ivory lace with a sweetheart neckline and a mermaid style with a hint of sparkle. It was perfect for the venue—simple yet elegant. Debbie, my consultant, was fantastic. I brought my mom, sister and best friend with me to pick out the dress. It was tons of fun!

About the Wedding

Married:

June 18, 2016  //

Location:

Long Island, New York
Our wedding was in our barn, which is located on Long Island New York. It took a year to get it ready for a wedding but it was well worth it. When our guests arrived, they were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Hay Head which Steve built using large bales of hay. Scattered around the property, we had tractors, old trucks filled with flowers, lanterns with mini lights and lawn games. We were married by our friend Nappy, under a pergola that Steve build just for the ceremony. The pergola was drenched in flowers. Our six children were the ‘best people’. Steve’s granddaughter was the flower girl. Inside the barn, we filled the walls with pictures of all of our guests using old windows as picture frames. We had 10 crystal chandeliers and ivory draping on the ceiling. The tables were decorated with ivory table clothes, candles, flowers and white china. The 2 bars, sweetheart table and the cake table were all built by Steve using wood that was milled from our property in Connecticut. My three sons made a lemonade stand that also served as a cigar bar at the end of the evening. We had a sit down dinner and the food was amazing. We also hired an 8 piece band and danced the night away! It was PERFECT in every way!!
