Brittany & Anthony - 9/22/18

About the Proposal

Engaged:

February 17, 2017

My husband Anthony and I were reacquainted in August of 2012, after previously attending the same high school. After being reintroduced a couple weeks prior to the start of my freshman year of college, things completely took off. What could have been a casual fling turned into something so much more. In the fall of 2016, we started looking for homes. We were ready to take the next steps. After losing one of our most favorite homes, in the beginning of 2017, Anthony was beyond crushed. We had lost a couple houses prior, but we were both pretty upset after this one, especially Anthony. Little did I know, his original engagement plan was to propose when we received the keys to the house. However, I just thought he was upset because he had waited so long to move in together and nothing was going our way. I surprised him with a weekend getaway in a log cabin bed and breakfast, tucked away in Upstate NY, right by Canandaigua Lake. I had planned this romantic weekend filled with gourmet foods, wine tastings, and a cozy cabin suite. Since I had planned the entire weekend to be a surprise, I definitely didn’t think anything was coming my way. He waited until the very end of the night, and proposed in our cabin suite by the fireplace as we were playing a corny board game. It was so perfect. It was so us. He couldn’t have chosen a more perfect setting than being snuggled together, just him and I, away from the rest of the world.

About the Dress

Kleinfeld Consultant:

Lisa Furhman

I started my dress hunt in Rochester, at a local bridal shop that a friend of mine owned. The selection was lovely, but small, and I couldn’t find something that made me feel like me– nothing seemed right in Rochester, not enough “oomph.”

This led me to the Big Apple. My mom, sister (MOH) and a bridesmaid tagged along. I had lined up three different consultations for my girl’s weekend in the city. Kleinfeld being our second stop. Well, after a horrible experience of being poked and prodded, and nothing seeming to work on me or my body, I was about to throw in the towel. I sat in the elevator of the boutique after my first appointment of the day and tears fell down my face. I was horrified. Dress shopping is supposed to be fun, and I was ready to cancel every appointment for the weekend. I mustered up the courage to give Kleinfeld a chance, and I am so glad I did.

Lisa met me in the waiting area, said she would be right with me. Personable, and reassuring. I knew right away, I was in the best hands! She me back to her room, gave me a robe and chatted about all things me and my soon to be hubby. It was refreshing, no one else had asked about us and I think that was the difference between this appointment and the rest. Lisa took her time getting to know me, my personality, Anthony’s build and body structure, and our vision for our wedding. She asked how I wanted to feel. After talking with me, she knew which dress she wanted to put me in first. I tried it on and it was nothing like I thought I would want. But it was perfect. It embodied me. for the first time I felt so beautiful, and sexy, all at the same time. A timeless bride.

The ivory Maggie Sottero fit and flare gown hugged me perfectly: covered in lace and beading with a sweetheart neckline.

We tried on a few more and I kept going back to the dress. Lisa put it back on with the matching veil and for the second time that day, I had tears down my face, only this time, I was ecstatic. Filled with all of the best feelings, the feelings I wanted to have inside of me on my wedding day. And that’s when I knew… I was saying Yes to the Dress!

About the Wedding

Married:

September 22, 2018  //

Location:

Rochester, NY  //

Venue:

Casa Larga Vineyards

The wedding was a perfect fall day in Upstate New York. Leaves colorfully changing, with a cool breeze. The morning was brisk, but the temperature rose in the sunlight during the day.

The 2 o’clock ceremony was at a church we had both grown up in, a Catholic ceremony. Anthony and I both wanted to opt out of the first look prior to the ceremony. Something so raw and real about looking down the aisle at your bride that we both loved.

After the mass, we went directly to the reception venue, a vineyard on a hill. Rustic but still so elegant. The day went so smoothly and seamlessly. Our guests arrived around 5 o’clock for the cocktail hour, gathering on the large deck overlooking the vineyards where we were taking pictures. Around 5:30, we joined the last half of the cocktail hour with our 250 guests. As you can imagine, Anthony and I had to divide and conquer. 6 o’clock, the entrances were ready to begin, starting with our parents, and then the bridal party, and then us! We walked right into our first dance: In the Misty Moonlight by Dean Martin. Maid of Honor and Best Man speeches, followed by our sit down dinner with tableside wine service was next. Everything was amazing and so delicious, but our guests couldn’t help get distracted by the colorful sunset right outside.

Over the vineyards was a sunset of a thousand colors, from purple, to red, to orange, to blues. It was affirmation that this is exactly where we were meant to be.

After cake cutting, father/daughter and mother/son dances, it was time for the party to start. Non-stop dancing of every single guest followed. It was definitely what you would think when you think “Big Italian Wedding,” and it was beyond incredible. Laughing and dancing, surrounded by the people we love; Nothing could be better. After the 6 hour reception was ending, we headed back to the hotel for a 3 hour after party with cocktails and a famous Rochester meal, the Garbage Plate (2 hamburger patties over macaroni salad and French fries, topped with ketchup, mustard, onions, and hot sauce.)

The night truly embodied us from start to finish. Every second we were happy, smiling from ear to ear, and so in love.

September 22nd will forever be our favorite day.
