Briar & Aaron - 5/4/19

About the Proposal

Engaged:

February 25, 2018

Aaron was planning on proposing on February 5th because the number 5 is significant to my family but I unfortunately had class to attend. So he decided to ask everyone to clear their schedules for Valentine’s Day, which they did, but unfortunately one person could not make it so Aaron moved the proposal to the 25th. Family dinner is not an uncommon thing for our big Italian family so Aaron said, “we haven’t had a big family dinner in quite awhile” and we had both been wanting to try a restaurant that sits in the Chattahoochee River, Rays on the River. February 25th was a very gloomy day and it was about to rain so Aaron mentioned that we should all get pictures taken down at the river before the rain started. While Aaron and I were having our photo taken, he turned to me and grabbed my hands! I don’t remember everything he said because I was overcome with emotion and then he got down on one knee and pulled out the most beautiful ring and asked me to marry him with our entire family watching!

About the Dress

Kleinfeld Consultant:

Mindy Freedman

As a young girl you see dresses in magazines and on TV and dream of the day you will get to go shopping for the most important dress of your life! I was no exception to this. The only  place I fell in love with when I was searching for stores was Kleinfeld. I had seen the show a couple of times so I knew they had a huge collection!  We booked our trip for the beginning of July and headed to NYC! When we arrived to Kleinfeld for our appointment at first I felt so overwhelmed and was worried because they were such a big store and there were a lot of appointments going on. I was SO wrong! It was so personal and the consultant and staff made you feel as if you were the only bride there. We met my consultant and she took us to the showing area and had my family sit while I went with her to the dressing room. I told her what I was looking for and what styles I had previously tried on.  She came back with 5 dresses for me to try on. I put the first dress on and my eyes got so big! I was in LOVE! She said, “let’s go show your family!” The second I walked out, my grandma started crying and then we all did. I knew I had found my dream dress! The consultant told me this was a brand new dress and I was actually the first to try it on! That was special to me. She said, “Is this the dress?”, and I said I wanted to try on a few more. We went back and I tried on 2 more and no luck! I put back on the first dress and that was it! I said ‘YES!’ to the dress in NYC like I always wanted with all the people I had dreamed of being there when I was 10 years old!

About the Wedding

Married:

May 4, 2019  //

Location:

Dallas, Georgia  //

Venue:

Indigo Falls Events

We got married at Indigo Falls in Dallas, GA on May 4, 2019. Our colors were dusty blue and dusty rose with rustic elegant decor! We chose not to see one another prior to the wedding but rather do a first touch and pray together. To ensure Aaron didn’t see me in my dress before the ceremony, he had an American flag bandana custom made with the thin blue line on it since he is in law enforcement and he is my protector! Finally it was time for me to take my first step to the rest of my life. Our ceremony consisted of a wind chime ceremony remembering our loved ones who could not be with us on our special day, a speech from my father in law and a unity cross ceremony. Once again as luck would have it, shortly after the ceremony, the rain came! As Aaron and I were introduced for the first time as Mr. and Mrs we set up to perform our choreographed first dance to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” which we had practiced for weeks to perfect and it turned out beautifully! The rest of the evening was full of dancing and enjoying being Mr. and Mrs. Schmitz finally!
