Altarique and I had shared a tender on-and-off again romance since junior high. Life eventually took us in different directions after college and we quietly drifted apart.

Years later, fate had other plans. One evening, I was invited to join friends at a club in New York. I never imagined that night would change everything. As we walked in, I thought I caught a glimpse of someone familiar, but I brushed it off. Then, as he approached our group, my heart skipped a beat. There he was—Altarique! The one man who always made my heart flutter, though I never dared to tell him. I tried to play it cool, offering a casual hello and hiding the whirlwind of emotions inside. But in that moment, something shifted. That night, we reconnected and this time, we never let go.

We dated for five years. Then, on Thanksgiving Day 2024 surrounded by my entire family in Malibu, California, Altarique got down on one knee. I was speechless. And then, without hesitation, I said “yes!”

Just as I had found the perfect man, I knew that I needed the perfect dress! I made my way to Kleinfeld, and unknowingly, chose the very gown that my mother had secretly picked out for me. I also had the pleasure of meeting Randy! How perfect! It was meant to be.
