JUDD WADDELL
An architecture student-turned designer, Judd earned his BFA from Washington University in St.
Louis. He had early success heading the bridal division at Carolina Herrera Ltd and then
created the “Occasions” bridesmaid line for Jim Hjelm. Judd also designed the bridal gown and
wedding party dresses for the 1998 movie, “The Object of My Affection”.
Judd and his partner, Tal Recanti, also a Washington University alum, founded Judd Waddell in
March 2000. Judd believes the concept of simplicity is a natural outgrowth of his
architectural background. In each phase of his career, he has maintained a basic design
philosophy: “notice the woman first, the dress second.”
