Respected and renowned young designer Melanie Harris Silverman is the proud 3rd generation of 50-year-old couture house Rose Taft. Started by her grandmother, Melanie is continuing the tradition of manufacturing handcrafted special occasion dresses in the USA.
Melanie and her team – including her mother and mentor Marcia Taft – have designed breathtaking gowns for many celebs, politicians & socialites including former First Lady and Senator Hilary Clinton, Tipper Gore, Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Mary Hart, Deidre Hall, Niecy Nash, Julie Moran and countless other high profile personalities. Her collection is coveted by women who demand quality gowns that make a statement.
Mary Hart is so in love with the craftsmanship and designs of Rose Taft that she chose to be “immortalized” at Madam Tussaud’s Wax Museum wearing her spectacular red silk taffeta Rose Taft gown that she wore to the 2009 Golden Globe Awards – quite an honor for Melanie and the team!
Melanie has recently launched a new collection under maiden name, “Melanie Harris” for a younger demographic looking to turn heads in a classic and elegant design. Melanie received numerous requests from retailers and stylists for young couture dresses that are made with impeccable quality and fit. There is a refined elegance, yet hip feel about the Melanie Harris collection. In a short time, Melanie has young Hollywood pining for the dresses including several celebrity stylists, Christian Serratos (Twilight), Jana Kramer (One Tree Hill), Lara Spencer (The Insider), Jill Martin (The Today Show) & a slew of reality stars from The Real Housewives. Her designs have appeared on several commercials, including The Today Show fashion segment that continually runs in the taxi cabs of NYC. Most recently, a design from the Melanie Harris collection was selected to appear on Brides of Beverly Hills, where filming took place at Renee Strauss on Wilshire Boulevard in Beverly Hills, CA.
Under Melanie’s direction the Rose Taft empire has reached all corners of the world including Canada, England, Spain and Dubai proving that superior quality and classic designs breaks barriers.
Melanie’s philanthropic personality has touched many organizations
nationally including the Multiple Sclerosis Organization, Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, Boys and Girls Clubs (honored as one of the “100 Outstanding Women of Broward County”) , The Epilepsy Foundation, Jafco, Kids in Distress, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital Foundation and The Pediatric Liver Disease Foundation. In addition to monetary donations on behalf of Rose Taft and Melanie Harris, dresses are lent for functions or gifted to women in need. Giving back to women is of the utmost importance to Melanie and Marcia.
