How long before your wedding day should you mail Save the Date cards, and is it ever too late?

Best Time to Send Save the Dates

It’s customary to send Save the Dates between 6 and 9 months before your wedding. If you have a longer engagement, consider sending Save the Dates a year or more in advance if:

·       You’re planning a destination wedding

·       Far-flung guests require extra travel planning

·       The busy season or popular resort demands advance booking

Speedy Engagement?

For shorter engagements, four months before the wedding is probably the closest to your wedding date to send Save the Dates without looking a bit disorganized. Some exceptions to this “4-month” rule could include:

·       Guests who need to make extra travel arrangements

·       Delayed invitations for any reason

·       Giving special guests a heads-up

Check Your Guest List—Twice!

You don’t have to send Save the Dates to everyone on your wedding guest list, but make sure you send Wedding Invitations to everyone on the save the date list!
