Premiere of Say YES to the Dress: Big Bliss!

I know all of you die hard fans of TLC's Say Yes to the Dress have been waiting patiently for our return, so we have a little surprise for you. This Friday, October 1st is our new series, Say Yes to the Dress: Big Bliss!

I'm so excited about this new series! The show is about celebrating real women with real bodies, and real curves!

What a lot of people may not know is that most salons only carry gowns in sample size, which in bridal is a size 10, which fits more like a size 6 or 8. Well, the average woman in America is not a size 6, 8, or 10.

Just because a woman is fuller figured does not mean she doesn't want to look just as spectacular on her wedding day as a girl that's a sample size. Imagine going out shopping for the most important dress of your life and not being able to fit into any of the gowns. There's enough stress and anxiety that comes with a wedding that the last thing you want is to have to purchase a gown that you can't even try on before you buy it!

Kleinfeld is proud to carry one of the most extensive collections of plus size designer gowns of any salon in the world! We have gowns starting around $1,200 and go up to any amount you wish to spend.

In honor of the new show I wanted to blog about some of my favorite plus size samples that we have in the store. I honestly couldn't pick just one, so I decided to choose five! Simple, ruched, lace, beaded, tulle—these are some of my favorite gowns for the fuller figured girl. I hope you enjoy my picks and I hope you are watching this Friday and enjoy the show!

Designer: BLISS by Monique Lhuillier
Style: 31928286 Price: $3,200

Thank you so much Randy and Kleinfelds! I love the show dearly and I'm glad to see that finally someone is going to address that women do not all fit into that cookie cutter "sample size" body type! Real women in the real world have real bodies and you're quite right that we have dreams of looking like a princess or what have you on our wedding day! The samples you show here are lovely. I personally would die for the Lazaro! (That doesn't surprise me as I almost always love the Lazaro gowns you feature on the show.) Cheers to you!

I am sitting watching the show as I type and I love it. I am a size 14/16 and often find myself right on the edge of plus size or not. The other issue is that many plus size women have certain parts of their body the want to hide. My problem area is a bit different than most. I hate my upper arms so will be wearing either a 3/4 or long sleeve dress. I'm seriously considering coming to Kleinfelds (from North Dakota) in order to have your store/staff help me out. Thanks for starting this new show.

Thank you for this show. Finally there is something out there for us beautiful women. Although I love my plus size figure, I always look to accentuate my best features and minimize my worst. I have beautiful sholders but one of my worst features would be my arms from just below my sholders to my elbows. Most gowns today are strapless don't have any sleaves. Do you have any plus size gowns that would help me hide that part of my arms?

I respect and honor Randy. Not only does he have a huge heart, but a spirit like a rainbow. I wish he was around when I got married 23 years ago.Not one bridal store carried anything if you wore a size 16 or bigger. Each store made me feel worse than the last. I knew I was big...I didn't need these idiots shaking there heads and asking if I thought I could lose some weight! I wound up wearing a nice white beaded cocktail dress, but to this day I regret that I never had the wonderful experience of standing in front of a mirror and feeling that glorious gush of happiness of seeing yourself as the bride you dreamed about since childhood. Thank you, Randy for giving these girls the wedding dress of their dreams.

Thank you so much for recognizing that not every women has a small figure. Real women have curves and most wedding places don't cater to plus sizes esp in the NYC area. I have been having trouble finding a dress elsewhere that would fit me and make me look the way i have always dreamed of. The samples you show are so flawless and beautiful that i look forward to seeing if one of those fit me. Thanks again for bringing hope to this plus sized bride :)

I enjoyed the new show, Big Bliss. However, there still did not appear to be enough dresses available for the larger, fuller woman to try on. Please enlarge (no pun intended) your inventory. I found it heartbreaking to see the brides tearful and discouraged in their pursuit for the perfect wedding dress at one of the largest bridal stores in the country.

I wasn't on the big bliss series but I am fuller figured and went to Kleinfelds, and I adored the dress I chose which was by Sophia Moncelli. Ladies, ask to try on her dresses, she knows how to dress a larger bride (I'm a 16 in 'real life', a 20-22 in bridal). Not all the dresses are featured online, mine wasn't but JB pulled it and it was SO nice on! For the record I do wish more designers have sample dresses in larger sizes but those that do are doing a great job.

I completely agree with everyone about the dress on the Big Bliss opening credits! It's not something I'd typically go for but it looked absolutely stunning! I could be wrong here, but after looking through Kleinfeld's site I believe the dress is by Sophia Moncelli, style #31829724. They probably just added the black sash which just makes the dress even more beautiful in my opinion. The pricing on Kleinfeld's website says that the dress should be under $3,000. Hope this helps!!!

Hi Brides-to-be,
The gown shown in the opening of Big Bliss is style 31829724 by Sophia Moncelli. It does NOT come with a black sash or flower but both are available from our accessory department. Its a great way to add style and color to your bridal gown. Thank you.

I absolutely love that a normal sized woman is finally being shown on tv. Now I realize that in Say Yes to the Dress all woman of all sizes are shown, but if you compare how often a plus size girl is shown on tv at all, it leaves one stunned. Thank you for recognizing the worth of a lady is not her size but her heart!!!

Hi Andrea and Chefkia,
The gown you are referring to is Pnina Tornai style: 31793680. Unfortunately, it is not photographed. It is in the price range of $8300 - $8700. Check our Trunk Show calendar to make an appointment while Pnina is in town, she can customize most of her gowns and add straps. Hope this helps, thanks!
