Brides Against Breast Cancer Event

On March 25th I participated in a BRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER Fashion Show and had one of the most moving and incredible experiences of my life! The event was held at Bloomingdales at The Chestnut Hill Mall in Massachusetts. The TRUE STARS of the show were the COURAGEOUS women who modeled the gowns, who were not models at all, but real women that were breast cancer survivors. Not only had they experienced this traumatic and horrible disease, but they were brave enough to share their stories with the crowd that attended AND walk the runway in bridal gowns!

When I first arrived, I can only remember how absolutely beautiful I thought these women were, who ranged in age from 26 to 65 years old. These were survivors...mothers, daughters, wives, and sisters who bravely came together to share their experiences with others. By telling their intimate and personal stories and walking the runway that night, they have put a face to this disease. Though many tears were shed, the appreciative crowd applauded and cheered loudly! I do not exaggerate when I say it was a life altering experience for everyone who attended. I hope you enjoy and celebrate these photos and these BEAUTIFUL and COURAGEOUS women!

Survivor Lisa, wearing a beautiful mermaid gown by Pattis.

Tracy, survivor and mother, wearing Carolina Herrera.

Survivor Pam, looking like a true starlet in this hot off the runway Rivini.

Survivor Julie in a short frock from Ever After.

Survivor and WCVB Channel 5 Local Reporter, Kelley Tuthill, wearing Sophia Moncelli for Kleinfeld Kollection

After the fashion show, gowns that had been donated were for sale to the brides that attended and over $35,000.00 was raised for the Making Memories Breast Cancer Fund! The night was truly a collaborative effort between The Registry at Bloomingdales, Kleinfeld Manhattan, Southern New England Weddings Magazine, and many others.

Sheri Singer from Bloomies, and Jennette Kruszka from Kleinfeld produced and coordinated the event and fashion show, and Dependable Cleaners did the alterations to fit the gowns. The lovely bouquets of fresh flowers were created by Dana Markos Events and other vendors who graciously contributed their time and services to make this night possible including: Shoes to Dye For, Rentals Unlimited, Jack Falvey Associates, DJ Raffi. And of course, a very special thanks to Person + Killian Photography who provided all of the wonderful photos in this blog. I thank all who were involved, but especially these STUNNING women! Thank you ladies! I applaud your incredible courage and your true beauty!
