All your life you've dreamed of the fairytale wedding and the fantasy honeymoon – some far off place like Fiji or a romantic private gondola in Venice. But, as a little girl, you never could have imagined how many Euros it would take for that gondola to leave the dock! What do you do when your fantasy honeymoon might be too steep? How do you get your fiancé to share in your fantasy honeymoon when he finds out how much it costs? Here are some tips to help you make it work without breaking the bank as much as you think:

Perhaps you can compromise a bit by prioritizing, for example, how important is it to you to have the grand suite? A lesser room category could be a great savings and not too much of a sacrifice while still having a five star experience. Choose a hotel with central access to city sights. This can really reduce excess transportation costs.

Also, if you have a special city sight in mind to experience privately with a guide, arrange a few hours with the guide and explore the rest of the city on your own at leisure. A lot of couples don't realize that you don't have to book the entire day with the guide.

Book your flights early, don't wait until the last minute. This will ensure not only better fares, but better seating options.

As travel consultants, it's our job to stay on top of all the latest promotions with hotels and resorts. In this economy these "deals" can change on a daily basis and you want to make sure you get the best one.

Sometimes going to a destination during a slightly off season, you can take advantage of some enticing offers.

Also, don't forget about value added amenities, breakfast included can be a big savings and you never know, you just may get upgraded to that suite after all. Have any questions about doing your dream honeymoon on a budget? Ask away!
