Tips for Finding Your Dress from Randy Fenoli

You may know him from the show, but we know him as a reputable and experienced bridal expert. Working in bridal for over 20 years, designing multiple bridal collections and helping thousands upon thousands of brides, Randy Fenoli knows a thing or two about how to find your wedding dress. We got the scoop from the legendary man himself—see below.

Know your budget before you walk in the door.

It’s always important to establish a realistic budget before you’re ready to start shopping. This budget should include your dress, alterations as well as any accessories (think a veil, headpiece or jewelry). This way, when you meet with your bridal consultant to discuss what you’re looking for, they can make sure to find options for you that fit into your price point. The last thing you’d want is to fall in love with a dress that’s above your budget!

BUDGET 101

Bring inspiration.

To make the most out of your wedding dress shopping experience, browse our dress galleryInstagram, Facebook and Pinterest for inspiration and bring it with you to your appointment. This helps your consultant get an idea of what you’re looking for, and is especially helpful if you haven’t tried on wedding dresses yet!

Always surround yourself with the right people.

While it may be tempting to bring along lots of friends and family to share the experience with you, too many opinions can actually make it harder to make a decision. Keep the focus on you and bring along up to 4 guests to make your wedding dress shopping experience more intimate and personal!

UPDATE: At this time, due to COVID-19 concerns, we are adhering to a strict 2 person per bride policy at Kleinfeld.

TIPS FOR WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING AS A FRIEND

Make sure you’re shopping at a reputable salon.

Its always important to work with a consultant that’s an expert in their field and is truly knowledgable on all things bridal, Randy says. That’s why he always suggests brides shop at a salon like Kleinfeld. With over 40 experienced bridal and accessories consultants (some working at Kleinfeld over 20 years!) he can assure that you’ll get the help you need, as well as unparalleled customer service and most importantly, a fun and memorable experience for you and your loved ones.

Have your dress altered by an experienced team.

Finally, definitely make sure to inquire about alterations when booking your bridal appointment. While many bridal salons will have you take your dress elsewhere to have it altered, it’s always helpful and convenient to have your alterations done at the same location, as the team working on your gown knows the style through and through, and is very familiar with the fabric and fit. Thankfully, our team of over 100 alterations experts work just downstairs at Kleinfeld, and Randy always recommends working with them to ensure your dress is altered to your specifications. Don’t worry if you plan on purchasing your dress at Kleinfeld but cannot have your alterations completed here—we always have a list of reputable and Kleinfeld-approved tailors in your area we recommend.
